Offerings include instruction for actors of all levels of ability, including
beginners
WESTBROOK, ME: Acorn Productions today announced
plans for a new low-cost series of acting workshops for actors of all levels of ability.
These one-night workshops will take throughout the month of February and offer the local
community a great way to get to meet Acorn's faculty and experience the company's new
facility in the Dana Warp Mill. Workshops will be held Wednesday and Thursday nights from
6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and feature topics such as Auditioning and Eccentric Performing (with
Avner the Eccentric). A complete list of the workshop titles with a brief description
appears below. Each workshop cost only $25 for a three-hour session and if students
register for three workshops, they receive a fourth one at no additional cost. More
information (including a registration form) can be found on Acorn's website www.acorn-productions.org, or interested
students can also call Acorn at (207) 854-0065.
Acorn Productions moved into their new studio space in September and has gradually been
expanding the company's educational offerings. The current winter semester of acting
classes will end in mid-March, with a new series of classes for kids, teens and adults
beginning the week of March 19th. Acorn's faculty includes some well-known local actors
and directors, and the company is pleased to welcome internationally-renowned performer
Avner Eisenberg as a guest instructor this winter. Also joining the faculty is Rachel
Flehinger, who has been offering classes in the Portland area for several years with her
company "Stop, Drop and Role." Other educational programs offered by Acorn
include a two-actor, one-hour touring version of "Macbeth," currently performing
in Southern Maine high schools.
