Pilgrim Festival Chorus' 2nd Annual Summer Season
Boasts Strictly Sondheim: A Musical Retrospective
PLYMOUTH: The Pilgrim Festival Chorus (PFC)
has announced their second annual summer season concert titled, "Strictly
Sondheim: A Musical Retrospective" to take place on Saturday, June 14th at 7:30
p.m. at Plymouth South High School, 490 Long Pond Road in Plymouth. The event
will feature soloists, duets, quartets and ensembles, in an "all Stephen
Sondheim music" cabaret-style evening of musical performances with desserts and
refreshments.
In the planning stages for several years, the group was thrilled to have last
year’s initial production culminate in a sold out crowd. "Clearly the community
is looking for more Broadway themed events," said Music Director Susan Mullaney,
"Our first Broadway undertaking was sold out and standing room only. We’ve moved
the venue this year to accommodate the tremendous response."
The production will feature a variety of numbers, all composed by the famed
Stephen Sondheim, multi-Tony Award winning composer of such Broadway hits as
Company, A Little Night Music, Follies, Into The Woods and Sweeney Todd
(recently made into a film starring Johnny Depp).
Vocalists from teenagers to senior citizens will be performing. Tickets for the
performance are priced at $12.00 in advance and $15.00 at the door, and include
entertainment, dessert and refreshments. Proceeds from ticket sales will raise
funds to assist production of the 2008-2009 PFC regular season events. Advance
tickets are available by calling Cyndy Dorchester at 781-447-4865.
