Portland School of Ballet Students Accepted Into Prestigious Summer Programs

PORTLAND, ME: Portland School of Ballet (PSB) is proud to announce its student summer 2008 list of acceptances to internationally recognized intensive dance programs. These talented and dedicated students will travel to cities all over the country to continue their dance training and education throughout the summer months.

This year, twenty students from PSB auditioned and were accepted into various summer intensive programs. Eight of these students are part of Portland School of Ballet’s C.O.R.P.S. Program, a program offering pre-professional ballet training and academic studies through a partnership with Portland Public High Schools. National evaluation is a prerequisite for admission into Portland School of Ballet’s C.O.R.P.S. Program. The remaining students are from the PSB Syllabus Program, a seven-level, full-spectrum classical ballet training program offered throughout the school year.

Executive Director Eugenia O’Brien explained the importance of national evaluation, saying, “These programs are an important educational component of PSB’s training. Our dancers experience a broader vision of the dance world for more informed career options.”
