Rustic Overtones Blast Open Rochester Opera House Season

ROCHESTER, NH: The fiery rock, soul and funk band Rustic Overtones blast open the Rochester Opera House season with a fantastic floor down dance party on Saturday, October 3, 2009. Auditorium seats are removed so there’s plenty of room for a rocking night of dancing and mingling with all of your friends. Doors open at 7:00 PM as the alternative band.  The Dejas get the party started with their unique acoustic/pop/ambient sound.

Portland Maine’s Rustic Overtones rocked the music scene from 1995-2002. The band’s first album Rooms by the Hour includes the song Hardest Way Possible featured on the soundtrack of the Rob Schneider film The Animal. In 2001, the band released Viva Nueva! featuring Funkmaster Flex, Imogen Heap and David Bowie. The band went their separate ways after their “final” performance on May 11, 2002…but to the excitement of fans, the band reunited in 2007 and announced several reunion tours plus the release of their new album Light at the End.

Singer/songwriter Aaron Katz (former Percy Hill drummer) and singer/songwriter Callie Lipton are The Dejas. The duo won the 2007 Spotlight Eye on the Arts award for Alternative Band of the Year. The Dejas just released their debut recording Solid Ground.

This show is sponsored in part by Eastern Propane & Oil, L. Wynn Sound and Foster’s Daily Democrat. Reserve tickets online at www.rochesteroperahouse.com or call the box office at (603) 335-1992. Ticket holders must be age 18 or over. Age 17 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The Rochester Opera House is located in City Hall, 31 Wakefield Street, Rochester NH. The Dance Party Series continues on October 9, 2009 with the ultimate disco party band Motor Booty Affair.
