Connecticut Ballet Announces Nutcracker Performances

HARTFORD & GRANBY, CT: Connecticut Ballet is pleased to announce performances of The Nutcracker in greater Hartford in partnership with Ballet Theatre Company of West Hartford, Granby Education Foundation and Granby Public Schools. Brett Raphael’s charming production of the holiday classic will receive three public performances on December 12 (7:30pm), Dec. 13 (1:00pm and 5:00pm) at Granby Memorial High School, 315 Salmon Brook Street, Granby followed by seven public performances at the Carol Autorino Center for the Arts and Humanities, at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, December 17th-21st. For the third year in a row, guest artists from Connecticut Ballet will appear alongside Ballet Theatre Company of West Hartford’s pre-professional students in Mr. Raphael’s production.

Artistic Director Brett Raphael stated, “We are delighted to join forces with Granby Education Foundation and Ballet Theatre Company of West Harford to raise funds and bring what is arguably the world’s most beloved ballet to this region.” Lead presenting sponsor for the Granby production is GoodWorks Insurance. Event partners are The Hartford Insurance Company, Granby Pharmacy, and Northwest Community Bank.

Connecticut Ballet’s professional company will be joined by over 200 Hartford-area children performing the many children’s roles in the ballet. The production features the majesty of the towering Christmas tree, the glittering pageantry of falling snow, and Connecticut Ballet’s superb dancers in the famous ‘Waltz of the Snowflakes’ and the colorful divertissements in Act II’s ‘Land of the Sweets’.

Family-priced tickets for the Granby performances are $22.50 for adults and $16.50 for children 12 and under. Tickets for the Saint Joseph performances are $30 for adults, $26 for seniors, and $24 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available at Ballet Theatre Company box office (860-570-0440) or via www.ballettheatrecompany.org

Currently celebrating its 27th season, Connecticut Ballet is a statewide performing company with offices Hartford and Stamford. For further information, please contact Connecticut Ballet at 860-293-1039, or visit www.connecticutballet.com.
