Irene J. Meaney

IMeaney.jpg (11918 bytes)Irene Meaney's involvement with community theater is impressive! As an actress, her most recent role was as "Woman with Notebook" in Camelot's Chamber Music (our entry in the 2002 EMACT Festival at Brandeis). Appearing on the Camelot stage in a variety of roles, such as Madame St. Pe in Waltz of The Toreadors, Muriel in I'm Herbert, Dorothy in Amateurs, Vera Charles in Auntie Mame, and most recently in May'04's Three Short Comedies, Irene is a perennial favorite.

A member of several groups throughout her career, Irene performed with the Chelmsford Players in numerous productions, including, Pajama Game, Picnic, Cactus Flower, and The Miracle Worker. Often performing with the Delphic Studio, she appeared in Antigone, The Women. Musically inclined, Irene's musical repertoire is also impressive. Among her many on stage musical credits is Paint and Powder's production of Sugar Babies. As a musical director, with the Chelmsford Players, Irene directed The Music Man, Aladdin, and several others. Irene has even written original musicals, such as River Rhapsody and the book show Perfectly Frank (both performed by Paint and Powder).

Involved with Lowell's Immaculate Conception CYO for seven years, Irene wrote and directed original musicals for the group, as well as popular shows like Godspell. No stranger to EMACT awards and achievements, Irene has won the "Best Make Up" award, garnered nominations in a variety of categories, and as a director, her production of Absurd Person Singular was a competition finalist.

Last season, Irene took Camelot's directing chair for our 1993 production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
