JulieAnn Govang (a.k.a. JulieAnn Charest)

JGHeadshot.jpg (8814 bytes)JulieAnn Govang has been involved with theatre on many levels since her age was in single digits which, without giving too much away, was over four decades ago. Her first appearances were as the states of Maryland and Georgia in her grade school bicentennial pageant. Since, she has enjoyed many appearances in professional and community productions throughout the region. Favorite roles include her portrayal of 'Woman Who Plays Records' in Camelot Players' EMACT Festival production of "Chamber Music," for which she received a nomination for Best Supporting Actress; Mrs. Patrick Campbell in Dear Liar (also with Camelot); Bonnie in "Anything Goes" with the Newton Country Players (NCP); Maggie in "Lend Me a Tenor" and Baker's Wife in "Into the Woods" with the Quannapowitt Players; Oolie/Donna in "City of Angels" with the Arlington Friends of the Drama; and Lizzie in "Baby," Sonia in "They're Playing Our Song," Young Mona in "Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean," and Gwendolyn in "The Importance of Being Earnest" - all with the Burlington Players (BP). Most recently, JulieAnn returned to the stage in May'04 to portray Martha in the Nashoba Players' production of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf."

JulieAnn is also a recognized director for such productions as "I Hate Hamlet" for the Nashoba Players, "Steel Magnolias" for Burlington, and the EMACT Festival Finalist production of "Rain" with Newton Country Players, for which she was nominated for Best Director.  In Fall'03, JulieAnn directed "Don't Dress for Dinner" at Acme Theater Productions in Maynard, and returned to Acme in Fall'04 to direct Jane Martin's dark comedy "Criminal Hearts."  This summer ('07), JulieAnn directed "Fame" for River's Edge Players in Hudson (MA). , JulieAnn directed Camelot's 2005 EMACT Festival Entry "Waiting for the End."  She also is a director ("Cabaret"/"The Wiz") and education coordinator for the Alexander Children's Theatre School, where she is directing "42nd Street" this fall.  Simultaneously, JulieAnn is directing "First Night" back at Acme Theater Productions.  Keep an eye out in Spring, 2008, as JulieAnn will be directing "The Drawer Boy" at Vokes Theater in Wayland.

Owner and editor of the New England Entertainment Digest, JulieAnn's most prized role to date is, without question, wife to husband Michael, and Mommy to her sons, Christopher and Stephen.
