Cast Requirements: 2M/5 Persons

Breakdown:
bulletEDWARD CLARK POTTER: 53. A sculptor (creator of the New York Public Library Lions).
bulletSPIRIT IN THE STONE: Male. Youthful. From Tennessee.
bullet
Thoughts in Potter’s Head (played by 3-5 actors)
bulletMAY DUMONT POTTER—40-50. Edward's wife.
bulletPUBLIC OPINION—A woman. New Yorker.
bulletWABBIT—A rabbit.
bulletDANIEL CHESTER FRENCH—Prosperous sculptor.
bulletGEORGE WASHINGTON—The original.
bulletOptional: live percussionist.

For a cast with a total of five actors, it works well to double up as Public Opinion/Wabbit and Washington/French. However, a director may use whatever assignment of the roles of the Thoughts works best for a particular production. Potter and Spirit must not be double-cast. Thoughts and Spirit (the ones within the marble at any specific time) comprise the Chorus.
