O Rumbles of Joy! by Robin Rice Lichtig

ISBN #1-933159-56-1
JAC #2005-0006

Cast
2M/5 Persons
  • EDWARD CLARK POTTER: 53. A sculptor (creator of the New York Public Library Lions).
  • SPIRIT IN THE STONE: Male. Youthful. From Tennessee.
  • Thoughts in Potter’s Head (played by 3-5 actors)
    • MAY DUMONT POTTER—40-50. Edward's wife.
    • PUBLIC OPINION—A woman. New Yorker.
    • WABBIT—A rabbit.
    • DANIEL CHESTER FRENCH—Prosperous sculptor.
    • GEORGE WASHINGTON—The original.
    • Optional: live percussionist.

For a cast with a total of five actors, it works well to double up as Public Opinion/Wabbit and Washington/French. However, a director may use whatever assignment of the roles of the Thoughts works best for a particular production. Potter and Spirit must not be double-cast. Thoughts and Spirit (the ones within the marble at any specific time) comprise the Chorus.

Summary
