  • MARTI: Early 30s to early 40s. Wounded; organized to distraction. She has a habit of twisting her hair when she’s nervous.

  • AARON: The same age as Marti. He’s anxious to please with the habit of snort-laughing when he’s nervous.

  • MALE/FEMALE HOST: Think of a game show host after one too many cappuccinos. The character can be played offstage (voice over) or onstage.

The time is the present; a small neighborhood French restaurant rented out for a speed dating marathon.

Sometimes an entire relationship can happen in less than 15 minutes.

Jeffrey Davis' SHOW ME THE FUNNY! At the Writers’ Table with Hollywood’s Top Comedy Writers, a book of comedy writer interviews I did with co-author Peter Desberg will be published November 2, 2010 by Sterling Publishing, a subsidiary of Barnes & Noble.  The book is a little different from other interview books: Davis asked twenty-five celebrated writers to take a bare bones premise we gave them and develop it anyway they wanted. No limits, no rules and no boundaries. The result is twenty different stories created in real-time from writers like Phil Rosenthal (Everybody Loves Raymond), Sherwood Schwartz (Gilligan's Island) Ed Dector (There's Something About Mary) and Heide Perleman (The Simpsons, Frasier).
