MISC: The Freeport Community Center has available about 220 theater seats which were removed from Gould Academy a year ago. Our plans for their use have fallen through and they are available for free to any interested party. They range from average to very good in terms of condition and were designed for a raked floor. Anyone interested could call 207-865-3379 or e-mail dcgx2@msn.com.  David Glendinning, President, Freeport Community Players and member of the Community Center Coalition.

MISC: The Freeport High School Drama Tech Club is looking for volunteers in the Maine theater community to act (via email) as a resource mentor. We are looking for those unsung backstage techies who specialize in certain areas of tech such as stage managing, lighting, sound, sets, makeup, costumes, special effects, props, etc. etc …you get the idea. This year the tech club is implementing a peer mentoring system where the upper-class students will train the underclass students in the above mentioned areas.  The volunteers would act as a resource if the students need advice from someone with experience in that certain area. Some of the underclass students have never been involved in a production before when they reach high school so a crash course is often needed.  Keeping with tradition of community theater in Maine, mentor volunteers do not get paid (why break tradition) and you may never be contacted.  If a student has a tech question or would like a 2nd opinion or just get a different idea on how to do something in the tech world you would simply be available via email (phone if absolutely necessary).  It's that easy!! No fuss no muss! You may be helping a future member of your theater organization as well by nurturing someone's interest in the backstage field! Think of it as an investment! So if you are interested please email me privately with your name, email, phone number (again optional), area of specialty, theater organization & location if applicable.  Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! - Tim Ryan, Drama Tech Club Advisor, Freeport High School; ryan65@aol.com
